Wood paint stripping business recommendations

Hi, does anyone have any wood stripping company recommendations? Specifically for paint stripping. I tried calling a few businesses posted on here before but seems DeGamba is closed (or at least their (917) 299-6960 is d/c’ed) and Wood Zone Restoration doesn’t do paint stripping.

Would also appreciate anyone’s data on estimated costs! I have quite a few items: a pier mirror, a good number of window frames and door frames, a few doors, and some shutters (4 per window for 3 windows). There was a promising thread a few months ago but it seems something mysterious happened in the middle of it, haha. Just to keep the thread updated: I’ve spoken to Iron by phone and he’ll hopefully be coming on-site to take a look; likewise, was able to connect with Steve by phone and he provided some good recs that I’ll follow up on.

if you try iron doncon, let us know how he is. i always need strippers to refer to people. i cannot hire them myself often because they seem to always lack insurance (this is not something that pays well) and i cannot take that responsibility without it.

Try Iron Doncon 347-855-1695. He strips paint and did some paint stripping for me. it’s a long and arduous job.

the problem with finding people who just do stripping is that anyone doing this, because of the risks involved and the cost of protecting oneself from those risks would mean someone like me having to charge 100 an hour to strip wood (either myself or if i sent someone out). would you pay that? nor would I. so people will usually only do it as part of the package where they can spread the cost of that initial process into the complete refinishing job. otherwise, if people begin hiring untrained people off the street for $20 an hour, there will be all sorts of accidents and injuries and those will get expensive quick. i would not dare go into this as a stand alone business.

dean who used to run Park Slope Refinishers closed his business. one of his employees has been in contact with me looking for work. because of what i said above, i will not hire him. however, if you email me on the side, i will send you his number.

Ah yes, after the paint stripping, the wood should be refinished as well. Didn’t mean to emphasize it as JUST stripping.

So, aside from that fiasco, i am not sure there are companies that just do stripping. Are you looking for a complete refinishing job or just the stripping?
