Modular Pre-fab room

I love the look of some of the pre-fab units! I’ve never heard of them being used in the city, but can’t think of any reason they couldn’t be. If you look into this further please report back!

Hi there-

We have a very drafty mudroom on our ground floor, making it pretty much unusable. I see many beautiful pre-fab rooms on the internet- has anyone used a pre-fab room to replace their mudroom? Is it warm enough? Do you need DOB permit? Anyone have any thoughts/recommendations/companies on this? Would love to make it a small bedroom. Thanks in advance! Jessy

Interesting idea — prefab units are often super-well insulated. But you would need all the regular DOB permits. Probably best to ask an architect what code issues you might face. You might also need a new foundation.
