Two years ago we moved into the garden level of a brownstone in Brooklyn and wanted to renovate our fireplace. We contacted Big Apple Chimney and were thrilled with the results. They helped us create a raised brick fire place with wood storage below. Raising the interior of the firebox allows us to see the fire from many more areas of our apartment and the wood storage is very helpful when the weather is inclement. The craftsmen working with us also suggested taking the brick all the way up to the ceiling (removing some plaster board wall) and this required excellent mason skills in blending old and newer bricks. The outcome looks like it was always that way. Friends and family rave about our fireplace and ask to come and sit in front of it to enjoy the beauty and the warmth of a wood fire. We can’t say enough about the excellent work and service of Big Apple Chimney. We highly recommend them.
