CAN WE PLANT SOME GRASS IN FORT GREENE PARK?

ok, the petition is going strong…  Please sign and share this online petition to help make Fort Greene Park green. http://www.change.org/petitions/the-fort-greene-dust-bowl
Why can’t we have grass in Fort Greene Park? Why can’t they build and support the soccer leagues by building a real field for them (astro turf?). Please sign and share this online petition to get rid of the “Dustbowl”. So let’s all put our personal adgendas aside and make the park great for everyone! It’s not just about kids, dogs or soccer – it’s all of them! Any suggestions are welcome to solve this eyesore.
1\. It’s gross.  2\. No one likes to play in the dirt and broken glass.  3\. No one likes to get dust in their eyes or breathe it in (who knows what’s in it?) 4\. Put a permanent soccer field (astro turf – easy to maintain!) 5\. A nicer park is a great amenity and increases property values!
this is a recent article on this issue.  http://www.dnainfo.com/new-york/20130514/fort-greene/locals-want-ft-greene-parks-dust-bowl-covered-with-grass-astro-turf thank you for your support. hopefully with enough pressure from the community something will be done.

The State has nothing to do with Ft. Greene Park.  It belongs to the NYC Parks Department.  If you have concerns don’t try to handle them yourself.  Contact and perhaps join the Ft. Greene Park Conservancy.  Together you can get a lot more done.   http://www.fortgreenepark.org/about.html
