DEP Notice from the City: Urgent Replacement of Lead Water Main

I recently received a notice from the city requiring me to replace my lead water main, which came as a surprise since I wasn’t aware it was lead. Understanding the urgency, I spoke with my neighbor who had a similar issue and recently had their water main replaced by Harris Water & Sewer due to a leak. They discovered it was lead as well.

If anyone has recommendations for a reliable company to provide a quote for replacing my lead water main, please let me know. Time is of the essence, and I’m eager to get this done. Thank you!

AFAIK there are only a few companies that do this. When I had my lesd main replaced by Figliolia many years ago the job took only a day. That was a good thing because DEP shut off my water (the main was leaking).
I wasn’t aware that it was required to rrplace lead mains? but it’s certainly the prudent thing to do.

I can totally relate to your situation—I recently found out I needed to replace my lead water main too. I interviewed a few companies before deciding to have Harris replace my main as well. The job was a lot quicker than I expected, pricing was most fair in comparison to other bids and I now no longer have lead pipes!
