Burnham IN8

We found out that the heat exchanger in our Burnham IN8 has burned a leak and “carbonized” Weiss are our “go to plumbers” that are supposed to service it annually/do repairs. We might need a second quote depending on what they come back with tomorrow, this might also be an opportunity for us to bring in a new “go to plumber” that also handles the annual inspections/servicing and the regular checks for the fire sprinklers as a new vendor. Thanks for the followup Gennady. The conversation never even got that far. Please call 917-207-3420 but basically once I said we had a Burnham IN8 and wanted to replace it with the same model it was like no we don’t do that kind of emergency work….etc etc So far Weiss have told us they cant fit us in their schedule and they’ve recommended two other companies to come in and quote on Monday if you are available to come and give us a quote. And to respond to @TinkersWagon and @nalusurf John got back to me but Gateway plumbing have a 3 week lead time for new customers at the moment which isn’t really going to work for us.

Hi Dean, what Sasha told you was correct regarding replacing in kind. We don’t perform drop in replacements because we don’t know if the boiler is properly sized or installed to begin with. Most of the time they aren’t, so we start from scratch in the boiler room (new piping around the boiler) and we address the venting and balancing of the system. But we don’t replace the risers or radiators. When we do our installation we perform a heat loss calculation, install a new header, install TRVs which dynamically modify the output of the radiator depending on the conditions in the room, and install master vents for proper venting. Unfortunately this type of installation can’t be done as an emergency when you need heat today. We can always fix your system to make it work while we start and finish our installation but from your conversation it seemed that you required just a replacement of the current burnham boiler. I just posted a [response regarding my oil to gas conversion experience with Sessa](http://brownstoner.staging.wpengine.com/forums/topic/oil-to-gas-conversion-4/). They’re my “go to” plumbers for my 3-unit building (I subscribe to their priority service ~$125/year which gets me across-the-board rate discounts and an annual cellar to top floor plumbing review). What got me to move from my old plumber was when they were the only plumber on Christmas Eve to respond when we had a sewer backup in our cellar (4″ of dirty water on the floor and 2′ in the main sewer drain pit). Their # is 718-765-4171; owner is Richie who was present for the entire removal/installation process and office manager is Ellen who would be the first person you speak with. Good luck!

the guy who signs himself as master plumber on here seems to be in the top tier of plumbers. i bet he can manage this. I have customers who have used him and they swear by him and his guys. Steve
