hi, i live on the top floor of a 4 floor walk up (not owner). Our living room radiator heater (the old fashioned ones, water based I think is what they are) as of late has been inconsistently on or off despite us not changing anything and the valve remains open. WHile the bedroom one is fine. I just checked with the below neighbors and the 2 below have had one night of their radiator on the same side of the blding not working but only once. Ours has been mostly off the last week. Could this be the result of a clog? Called the landlord but he’s a shmuck and will take his time fixing it…looking into taking proactive action to get the heat back. Who should I call? Plumber? boiler repair person? thanks so much in advance for the advice.

Did you try bleeding the radiator? We’ve had that issue and that’s what my husband did. I think you need an Allen key, I think. Not sure where you actually put it, but you can probably Google it.

metalwork – maybe you do have an actual business, but the volume of your frequent, spam-like posts about “my guy” makes you seem like a shill. Why don’t you give it a rest? reneeb – It sounds like a plumbing / heating specialist is who you need to address the issue, but as a renter unfortunately you probably need the landlord to make the call because you’re not likely to get it fixed without the tech having access to more than just your apartment.
