Heating timer controls repair/replace?

Our heating contractor just recommended that we replace our timer controls, as they’ve been on the fritz and he says they only have a 10-year life anyhow.  However, the bill for the replacement is very high, and it seems possible that the controls are not entirely fried, just partially so.  Are there firms out there that do repairs to heating timer controls?

to anon200 Use your head. the Heat-Timer has two clock motors,  cams and levers that move every day from night to day and back to night. Why would (in business to make money) Heat-timer recommend that you save wearing out your unit in the summer.

We just replaced our Heat-timer. It was over 30 years old. SHUT DOWN THE TIMER DURING THE SUMMER MONTHS. TAKE OUT THE FUSE. THIS WILL MORE THAN DOUBLE THE LIFE OF YOUR UNIT!

Go with Tekmar. Tekmar is far superior in my opinion and I get better customer service from my rep.

What exactly is wrong with your Heat-Timer? Sometimes the fixes aren’t that difficult and there are alsoa few outfits who will rebuild them cheaper than Heat-Timer will service them. Finally, Heat-Timer’s answer is oftern “we don’t frix those anymore, you need a new one”.

Yes. It is best of you call the Heat-Timer company directly and have the unit factory serviced. They have service people all around NYC all the time. http://www.heat-timer.com/en/Contact.aspx Heat-Timer has its place, but most people who buy them only do so because they dont know the options.
