Advice on installing wall-mounted bathroom heater
We have no heating pipe or radiator in our bathroom, plus we have a skylight, so it gets freezing in winter. I’m looking into wall-mounted electric heaters which I believe used forced air and found this site, http://www.bathheat.com/Bathroom_Wall_heaters.htm. Does anyone have any experience with these kinds of heaters and can recommend one type over another? Any words of warning? The bathroom is quite small so it shouldn’t take much to heat it up before our kids take a bath. I’d also love a recommendation for an electrician who has experience with this kind of project. Thanks!

As “hdlbklyn” mentioned, you might consider a towel warmer that also acts as a space heater. Amba Sirio is one that comes to mind. It puts out close to 600 BTU’s and is very energy efficient. You can also use a timer to control when it comes on. If you go this route, plan on spending around $500 and you will want to make sure that is is a dual purpose towel warmer. Not all towel warmers are created equal. [Towel Warmers](http://www.onlytowelwarmers.com)

Another way to go is to get an electric towel warmer. I hard wired a Runtal towel warmer and it puts out enough heat to keep the bathroom warm. I also get the benefit of fantastically toasty towels to dry off with when I get out of the shower. They are about $400 – $500 if I remember correctly. BTW it needs to be on a GFCI protected circuit.

You can put a small electric heater right into the wall and wire it up to a thermostatic switch. They flush mount between the studs. There is no issue with water/moisture as long as you hardwire it.-these are designed for bathrooms and are fantastic- heat up very fast etc. You can get one on line for between $100-200.

We just did this for our small bathroom with no heat source nearby. With it in the ceiling, we don’t have to worry about towels, toilet paper, or water getting into it. I had a good recommendation for Broan products and chose the one below, which has an exhaust fan, light, and heater. I’d recommend getting it installed with a timer so you won’t accidentally leave it on too long.

electric heat on wall (electric wall) or floor (electric baseboard) makes me nervous. i’d opt for those heat lamps far away from water. just my 2c
