Insulation between exposed beams?

One of the previous owners of our townhouse decided that they wanted to raise the ceiling in the front of the house to expose the original beams, but install any insulation when they did that. It may look pretty, but the heating bills it creates are NOT pretty. We’re looking for someone who can help us install rigid insulation between the beams (or help us come up with a better plan). Anyone have any suggestions?
