Does anyone know reference to NYC code that determines the placement of the external unit of a mini split AC? I have a 3 story, multi-family house and want to have mini-splits mounted on the side of the building at the 2nd story level. I am told this is not allowed by code and need to install them on the roof.

I think it’s not allowed under the Equipment Use Permit, which you will need.
