Chairlifts in Brownstones

The stairlifts are being installed by Acorn as I write. I’m happy they could be installed so quickly. I got the estimate 10 days ago and the main floor stairlift track had to be custom made, so this is very fast indeed.

Had anyone had these installed? We’re thinking of a chair stair lift as a way to ensure that we’ll be able to stay in our home for many years to come, should we have difficulty with stairs. Personal experience and recommendations for specialized installers (as opposed to GCs) would be much appreciated

though not in a brownstone, my in-laws had a lift installed on their steep staircase with a turn. i believe they used Acorn. There have been a couple hiccups but for the most part the experience was quick and efficient.

I ended up choosing Acorn Stairlifts, a company recommended by several people. Installation should be in a couple of weeks It’s fairly costly, but not as much as I’d anticipated. The cost isn’t covered by insurance, but seems to be a valid medical deduction.
IMO stairlifts seem to be a much better option than moving to the ground floor, and both quicker and less expensive than building a full bath there.
