Old Parquet Wood Floor Repair
We had a roon that was partialy damaged so we decided to carpet it. When it came time to do a small parquet repair elsewhere we lifted the carpet and salvaged some of the pieces to use and replaced it with plywood. It was the best as it was exactly the same for size and wear etc. I had a friend who tiled a closet floor so that she could use the wood pieces in the room.

Looking for someone who can supply old pieces and repair a very small section of our damaged wood floor so it matches with the old floor. Any suggestions for this appreciated. Thanks

just went through this… the hardest part you’ll find is matching the thickness. i found plenty of places with the right reproduction parquet pieces, but a combination of years of wear (and likely a good sanding/refinishing every so often) and the fact that they re reproduction pieces makes it very hard to find. I sourced mine from a place on McDonald avenue, and Foster avenue (under the F train – don’t remember it’s name, but its a big tool rental place with woodworking specialties.) – closest match, but I had to give each piece an aggressive go with a belt sander to get them to the right height. Likely – anyone you hire, if you’re not doing this yourself, will have to di this sort of shortening and trimming, which will add to the cost, as it takes time. Good luck.

Eastside Flooring carries this 5/16″ thick stuff but GC above is right, it has to be belted down after install. Also, the current wood is a little wider than the stuff they use a century ago, so a table saw helps. whoever does this can tint the top coat a little to make it match the old finish. Steve
