Staircase carpet runners?

Does anyone have any thoughts about adding a carpet runner to a brownstone oak staircase?  Any recommendations for places that will install for you?  Thanks

The carpet likely won’t look as nice as the wood stairs, but it greatly increases safety (for humans and pets).  It should also help buffer sound.  Our place already had a runner on the stairs and we definitely like having it.

We have used Caesar’s Carpet on 5th Avenue to install runners on stairs and have not had any problems. Good Luck.
