Looking for a carpet installer

I’m looking for someone with experience and tools to install a padded carpet runner on my stairs in Bay Ridge. Yes, I’ve tried a couple of carpet stores. They, of course, are in the business of selling carpet, not installing it. And I’ve already got the carpet.

Some friends of mine had a fire in their home shortly after installing some really nice, expensive wool carpet runner. There was no damage to the runner — not even smoke damage — but the insurance company wrote it off anyway so they gave it to me. Now I want to install it here. I’m a DIY type and could probably do it myself but I would have to purchase tools and learn the techniques for a job that I’ll probably never have to do again. It’s also been cut for their stairs and while I have at least 15 more feet than I’ll need I don’t want to screw up the splicing to make it fit mine. I can’t run back to the store to buy more.

Anyone have any recommendations?
