Is There Anyone Out There Who Can Recommend A Good Veterinarian?

Hi. I know this question is unrelated to home improvement, but I was just figuring that a lot of people here on this forum have animals who they love dearly and can recommend me a veterinarian that they have had good success with. If you have any recommendations it would be highly appreciated! Thanks.

I want to thank everyone for all their advice. I am so happy that there are so many animal lovers like myself on these boards. I have had such bad and painful experiences, both in Brooklyn and NYC, and find it so hard to find a good veterinarian that is compassionate, nonjudgmental, patient, but above smart. I have used these boards to ask other home related questions and find it amazing that I got the most responses from this question. But if anyone out there still has recommendations your advice would still be much appreciated. Thanks again.

I can’t say enough wonderful things about Dr. Szacki.  She is the absolute best.  I take my cat to her office on 4th & 19th.  My little guy has had shots, surgery, general wellness checkups, etc. there and they are always great.  They also don’t price gouge you, which I really appreciate.  Just go sit in the waiting room for a few minutes. I have yet to see an anmial go in there and not get excited upon seeing her smiling face.  They waive the exam fee for your pet’s first visit and that’s a nice touch.

I had a good experience at Brooklyn Cares on Fulton Street.  My cat had a rare bacterial disease and they were able to diagnose it in one office visit and some test.  We treated it with anti-biotics and our cat is doing great.  The staff was really friendly and the prices were reasonable.

We have suggestions or two great vets depending on where you are. The first is in Park Slope.. We work with Brooklyn Animal Action and Dr. Szacki with Park Slope Vets does our neuter/spay. The entire office is loving, caring and outstanding. They are at 4th Ave and 19th St., 1 (718) 369-7387. We live in Bed Stuy and have an equally great vet local to the Bed Stuy/Clinton Hill/Ft Greene area. They have also worked with us with our outdoor cats and adoptee cats. We also take our own cats there, loving, caring and great vets also. They are at 411 Vanderbilt Avenue between Greene and Gates. (718) 638-2276. We love them oth, depends on if you are near them.

Dr. Silverman at Prospect Park Animal Clinic. Maddon is very good also. He used to work at PPAC until he opened his own practice. Not fond of Gibson.

Animal Kind in Park Slope is great for both dogs & cats — I recommend Mark Gibson or Laurel Frydenbourg.

Hi, I recommend Dr. Gavin at VERG on Warren street, but they don’t really do routine visits (vaccines etc). For anything serious though, they are great, specifically Dr. Gavin.
