they come in dark brown at HD. now, you can get coil stock in many colors greens, reds, blacks and browns at some supply houses.  if you call a gutter company who makes seamless gutters on site, he may be able to get you the color of your choice and load it into the machine for your run.   Steve

Just curious if you had purchased windows yet, I have sold Marvin’s for many years as well as many other manufacturers. Honestly, unless you are matching other windows, they are overpriced. Take a look at Loewen windows, they are a little lesser known, but you will get better windows for the price. Get back to me and I can give you more details on them, thanks.

You do not need an archtect for what you are trying to do. Also, there probably no original detail under the drywall unless there were boxed in.  I think you should have a contractor come out before having an architect. The contractor should be able to give you some advice especially since you have a modest budget. Take some time to think about it.  If you need a contractor, i have been recommending people call CRJ Home improvement 347-715-5956.

the same stuff i used to sign off on i will continue to sign off on, i have anew special inspection number and had to proove that I was both insured and licensed, this of course will be used as an opportunity ti raise my rates for inspections, but at the end of the day the only difference is about 4 hours of wasted time prooving my credentials to a new chunk of DOB paperwork. what dave is talking about, i will never know

The new requirement is for registration and insurance of the inspectors.  It’s my understanding that the job items requiring special inspections is the same.  I’d want the insurance for, say, concrete testing for high rise construction, fire stopping, etc.

This reeks of the sort of situation that unionized civil servants invent to make jobs and further screw the public out of $$$.  At some point there has to be accounting to the public and this environment of bigger and bigger. government and more and more rules just has to stop.  If there’s any office within NYC government where I’d expect someone to “go postal” it’s the DOB

Yes, the city now requires insurance to become an agency along with the cost of that and the insurance and payment for each type of inspection to be performed.
