We’re closing on our new house in a couple of weeks. Any idea how long it would take to have floors sanded and finished? I think we’ll be refinishing about 2200sf.

  1. With due respect to Steve, either oil or acrylic should be allowed to dry a full day between coats and a proper floor has at least three. Optimal four.

  2. A professional crew like Verrazano can sand that in a day. The urethaning and screening between coats doesn’t take long but if you use oil you’ll have to allow a full day for each coat to dry. So, three coats = four days.

However, you shouldn’t put down furniture for at least 48 hours and no rugs until it’s totally cured (about ten days).
