I have a small studio in the wv and do not know where to begin with renovations. Could someone email me or direct me to a book? I have tried unsuccessfully to inform myself by reading – overwhelmed and confused. It would help to hear from anyone who has experienced it. I would like new floors, kitchen, bathroom, windows, and a few built ins. How do I know if I need an architect? What prices should I expect for this? Which renovations should I do first? How do I know which wood is the best for me? How do I know which appliances can fit in my apartment and where do I choose from them? Does one stay in the apartment while renovations are being done? How many estimates does one get for a contractor and how much does one negotiate? As a single young female, should I be aware of any issues I might encounter on my own? Thank you, severine62@aol.com
You need an architect and I am not one. If you are on a tight budget and do not need for your place to look like it’s in a magazine, you could just use a good contractor. Judging from your questions I think that you would not be that thrilled with overseeing the job. It is a ton of work and you really have to know what you are doing.
Hi,
Based on your preliminary scope of work you need an architect. I would love to discuss your project with with and assist you in navigating what can often seem like a confusing process. Call or e-mail me.
