my husband and i are closing on a townhouse at the end of january and will have less than one month to get some work done on our duplex. we can’t figure out what needs to get done first – please help! we would like to refinish the wood floors (which will include ripping up 2 feet of tile and laying down new wood), have a really good painter sand down layer of paint and paint and have new countertops put in to the kitchen area. also, if anyone can recommend anyone they’ve worked with to do this stuff.
thanks so much!
If you do floor first, it could be a problem with
protecting the floors, and I know, you wil have a bf if the floors arent protected properly, so I would say that the paiting should be done first because, its less the painters have to cover and they can run with the paint…then afterwards the painter should be more than delighted to come back and do a touch up after the floors are finished…and he wil have to protect the floors, naturally, but its less he has to do…

I always work from the top down– ceilings, walls, trim, floors. Sure, you can scuff up some of your work when doing your floors, but that’s why you save some paint for touch-ups.
I know a very good painter he can be found at 9179513875
sand floors first, protect w/ masonite panels after poly sealing has cured, then paint ceiling and walls.
the best floor guy i know is larry narasingh (917.539.3017). he’s worked on brownstones in harlem and brooklyn. i’m a satisfied customer who’d like to send more work his way.
