The two-family structure is nearing the end of a fairly dramatic makeover. The DOB permit was for exterior alterations only and there will be no change to the property’s C of O. What do you think? It looks interesting to us, though apparently there’s some outstanding issue with DOB regarding unauthorized concrete work. DOB GMAP
Looks great!
Wellheythere, you answered my question. Thanks!
Love. There was a post a couple months ago of some new facade in the slope that I hated because it was trying, badly, to “blend” with 100-year-old rowhouses. I said better to do an actual contemporary rethinking of a townhouse, and some commenters thought that a house like that could not possibly work on a block of older houses. THIS is what I was talking about.
I like it too- love the blue.
Jackson Place and a house on 21st Street are two prime examples of this type of work. Have you seen those, Denton? Good stuff.
Question about the ‘unauthorized concrete work.’ A facade reno was just completed on my building. The permits issued for the same have the same language – “CONCRETE WORK NOT AUTHORIZED – CONCRETE PLACEMENT, FORMWORK, STEEL REINFORCING NOT PERMITTED” The only permits ever pulled on my building are these current ones for the facade. Does that really mean there was prior, unauthorized concrete work, or is this a typical warning placed on permits for facade renos that are not to include concrete and steel reinforcing?
I like this, especially the colors.
I have some pics of great stuff like this in GH/SS. Love it. Some of the before and afters are down right amazing. And this one is no exception.
i like it too. i always feel bad for the people who live in the houses next to things like this. it’s like do they get jealous? it’s like a pretty someone pretty chick stuck in a fuggo sandwich. you know the breads gonna be jealousing a lil.
*rob*
Looks rather cool.
See, I don’t hate all new facades.
