The two-family structure is nearing the end of a fairly dramatic makeover. The DOB permit was for exterior alterations only and there will be no change to the property’s C of O. What do you think? It looks interesting to us, though apparently there’s some outstanding issue with DOB regarding unauthorized concrete work. DOB GMAP
Ugly, but better than the vinyl or aluminum siding next door, so, I guess, it’s a plus, of sorts, for the block.
bowl of dicks:
In a vacuum @ architecture school, yah, one could criticize this as pretty basic design.
But in the real world, where the majority of what’s being built (Fedders box monsters) or existing (just look to either side in the picture…) is ugly crap, this is a huge improvement.
Gak what are you people thinking!? This looks like a 1st year design studio project……….at City College.
I like it- I was wondering what they were working on over there! I’m not a big fan of aluminum siding, so this is a nice change. I feel bad that the people on this side of the block have to deal with that monstrosity of a building in their backyards.
Before this work it was easily the ugliest house around. The old exterior was horrible.
Looks good, nice job.
See, some things do go right back here in the land of Not-Quite-Park-Slope 🙂
I like it too!
Here’s what is, IMO, the most amazing transformation I’ve seen. First see this: http://tinyurl.com/2ba4u4p
Then check the google street view of the house (pull up 329 21st St and look at the house with the woman walking a dog in front of it.) Truly incredible before and after.
snappy, seen those and some others. I have to track them down one day.
I think you need special permits for reinforced concrete now… city has to test concrete for strength (now that they’ve locked up all the engineers that didn’t do it right before)
