On the same day that the blog FIPS reported a Marty Markowitz staffer saying that Apple was not coming to Brooklyn, we sat in the audience at the quarterly Real Estate Roundtable luncheon at the Brooklyn Historical Society at which veteran commercial broker Robert Greenstone said he knew where the new Apple store would be but was sworn to secrecy. He could have been pulling the audience’s collective leg, but it didn’t seem like it. The whispers after the talk were that it was going to be in or around Atlantic Yards.

A Nordstrom Rack (I know not quite the same) just opened in the former Virgin Megastore space in Union Square about 3 months ago.
It’s the best Nordstrom Rack I’ve ever been in…really good stuff…especially shoes.
Minard, you’re on it.
Read this article….it talks about exactly what you say. The Brooklyn secret is out…the retailers are comin’

I can’t believe that Manhattan does not have a Nordstrom’s, let alone Brooklyn.
They should be in the great banking hall at One Hanson but that space is a landmark and I don’t think the Appletonians can handle that. They are in an old post office in SoHo but that building was a blank slate inside. I was thinking how every upscale mall from Hackensack to Las Vegas has Apple Stores, but they also have Tiffany’s and Nordstrom’s and Saks and Coach and Hermes and on and on…all stores that have never set foot in Brooklyn. Are we still famous for being poor? Maybe now we’re house poor? Remarkable that such a huge population is totally written off by the luxury goods trade. I think this could be an interesting story to follow.
tybur6 — if you live in NY, you still owe use tax on out of state purchases.
Hate going to Soho. Gimme my Brooklyn Apple Store!

It probably will be near the Atlantic Center.
