  1. Who knew the millionaires on Brownstoner were so oppressed by transit workers?

    Why is it that it is considered perfectly natural for Brownstone prices to go up 8-12% per annum (this money is deemed hard earned), but it is not natural for subway fares to go up 8% in two years?

  2. The Post has more local coverage than the NYT, but it’s essentially a shill for Murdoch’s conservative views. It’s easy to rag on NYT stories such as the Ft. Greene piece, but Brownstoner certainly gets a substantial amount of it content from the paper.

    And Benson, the NYT article on LIRR union abuses was far more
    investigative than the surface treatment the Post gives its stories.

  3. Tiptoe;

    I stand by my statements above, which I’ll summarize again: a) the New York Post is a tabloid and b) despite being a tabloid, it is, by far, the most effective news organization in uncovering the corruption that is endemic in Albany and in the civil service unions (the two feed off each other).

  4. Benson – do you work for the NY Post or something? I find it really great for cleaning dog poop–oh, and for Page 6 gossip, that’s about it. I am really PO’d at the possibility that “umlimited” metrocards will possibly be limited/reduced. If the mayor want us to get around and spend and spread money throughout the 5 boroughs, you can’t limit people’s rides. I mean, come on, think a little!

  5. Denton;

    The New Yrok Post is what it is: a tabloid. When it comes to uncovering corruption and abuse in NYC and NYS, however, it cleans the NYT’s clock. Where was the NYT on the scandal out at Aqueduct? Nowhere. Where was the NYT on the scandals that landed about 4-5 assemblymen in jail in the past 4 years? Nowhere. I could go on and on.

  6. benson, I see a second career for you. I’m sure management would love to “advertise” these abuses during contract negotiation’s. Just need to get a benfactor, maybe bloomberg will have a PAC after he leaves office.

  7. He stands and waves the flash light because the conductor can’t see to the end of the platform for passengers because this station is super crowded during rush hour AND lacks monitors. He’s telling him it’s all clear to close the doors. They have the same thing at Union Square on the 4/5 sometimes because the conductor cannot see to the end of the platform.
