The New York Post has been running a fantastic series on the abuses of the NYC civil service, particularly in the area of pensions. In the past week, for instance, it has highlighted two retired FDNY firefighters, out on disability pensions. Both are in their 40’s. What are these “disabled” firefighters doing? One particpates in triathalons, the other is some WWE-type fighting league.
If reform is not made to the civil service, we will be facing our own Greece situation here in NYS and NYC.
Finally, congratulations to the New York Post on Charlie Rangel getting his due. It was the NYP that broke many of the stories on ole Charlie’s shennanigans. The New York Times Metro section? Too busy profiling self-loathing whites in Fort Greene.
walk to work if you don’t like it, you lazy f**ks. whine, whine, whine.
Or better yet, get a bike and use one of those new bike lanes Bloomie spending all the $$$ on.
m4l, Etson was being facetious based on a Caroll Gardens’ neigborhood spokeman’s clueless comments recently about salary/housing costs in view of landmarking increasing costs.
What an awful sentence.
No doubt when he gets to Carroll Gardens with that salary he’ll put in an offer on that $3.4 million house just sold there.
etson, as a renter though – ie as I stated so politely yesterday that 100k income is peanuts as far as buying in these premo BK hoods
1st MTA desk work to be fired is that idiot who cant forecast correctly. hello, not that hard to forecast the P&L when you’re a monopoly running at max capacity on ridership. Or is this like time-release medicine – gives the public a small recurring dose of bad news / rate hike?
“That guy makes $110K a year with overtime and benefits of $60K.”
I hear he is moving to Carroll Gardens.
RIP Sean Bell. Fuck fare increases.

Denton, if anything, thought you would comment on the dude training those pigeons on the roof
