Aspiring Bodega Owner #2: Great idea, buddy. Where?
Aspiring Bodega Owner #1: How about four doors down from an existing deli?
Aspiring Bodega Owner #2: Great idea! We can’t lose! GMAP
Update: The 713 Deli has actually been closed for a while so maybe the folks opening the new place at 707 Fulton are actually business geniuses and it’s our commentary that’s superfluous!
Really? If you have a Boston accent you have uncontrollable impulses to type homophobic slurs on a real estate blog? That has not been my experience. Just seemed unnecessary to me – especially the second time around. As a parent, I work hard to stamp out the “it’s so gay” and “so queer” as sloppy pejoratives. But check back with me when gay folks are barred from civil institutions like marriage and the military. Perhaps I’ll be less sensitive then…
Putnam — If you have that accent, you say things like that. Jaysus. Sensitive much?
Re: New England
There are places IN England called Jersey and York. There is also a Hampshire. There are no places called Massachusetts or Connecticut or Maine.
I say we rename everything to Upper Right Side.
bob- remember when Canal St. (west) was a fun place of all sorts of weird stuff and plastics places?
Tyburg and “wicked quee-ah” is a bad thing? What’s the deal with you going for the homophobic comment everytime?
“anyone remember the radio district?”
The western blocks of Cortlandt Street, in the WTC footprint? Of course! I used to buy stereo components there and my friends bought ham radio equipment. A few stores, like Leonards relocated to other parts of lower Manhattan, but closed within a few years. Some of the best stores, like Airex, just vanished, as did the small stores selling stuff like 15″ reels of used audio tape, for next to nothing.
Umm… Rob, it IS a regional thing. Language just doesn’t respect political boundaries drawn on a map!
Oh, and the jar says Jimmies in New England! http://www.barryfarm.com/images/product/cake_decor/jimmies.JPG
(I have a jar of CVS brand Jimmies at home if that’s not enough proof for ya!)
quote:
wait wait wait– i was born and raised and came of age in Mass, and we’ve always said sprinkles. Western Mass represent.
ha! so it’s not a regional thing. i think saying jimmies is about as low class as one can get actually. besides, they say sprinkles ON THE BOX AND CAN!

We are reaching a dangerous point in this country, when more people will be receiving money from the Federal government than paying taxes.
The phrase that comes to mind is: bread and circuses.
