People are really focused on the wrong issue(s) in regards to Walmart. Let them open in THAT location. Who cares? It’s not like they’re trying to build a tacky ass store in the middle of downtown Brooklyn. Gateway is hardly convenient for most people anyway.

I wrote a rant about Wal-Mart haters last night on the OT. Those conversations drive me nutso.
Walmart officials have made it clear they intend to open stores in the five boroughs, according to the Crain’s article, which said Walmart is looking at as-of-right locations that would not require any city approvals — such as the Gateway II complex in East New York, which already received its land use approval.
Council concerns in the past have centered around how much the store would eat into the market share of unionized grocers in the city, Crain’s noted.
