Let’s hope this is not indicative of what’s to come in the summer months…1010 Wins reported that three teenagers were shot and seriously wounded yesterday afternoon near the intersection of Franklin and President Streets in Crown Heights. The three teens were shot at by a gunman on the roof of a building. The shooting happened at 3:30 p.m.—just as school children were probably on their way home. Great. Update: Looks like there was also a triple-shooting on East 16th Street last night. Ugh.

  1. quote:
He runs the AC units often in the winter cuz there’s too much heat!

he might be right. projects are notorious for providing waaaaaay too much heat. it’s rather creepy.. i think the rationale behind it is that if there’s a ton of heat people in the projects will definitely stay in doors. even in the projects i lived in new jersey the heat was unbearable, windows always had to be wide open in the middle of winter. i mean we werent paying for the heat, but someone is! and yeah i heard about that AC rule too hahah.

  2. Montrose, right about the proper use of firearms.

“provide every hoodrat with an air conditioner for their room and an xbox360/PS3. problem solved, they’ll stay in their apartment in the summer like they stay in their apartments all winter.”

Rob, funny I was having that convo with a kid this morning who lives in the PJs. Basically, if you live in the PJs, you’re covered. You don’t pay electric in the PJs so NYCHA charges you a sum of money to compensate for the AC. Ya know what that sum of money is? A whopping $4 per month! So this kid has five, that’s right five, AC units. He doesn’t figure he should pay the whole twenty bux tho, he only pays for the two easily visible from the street.

  3. Alright, apparently I stand corrected.

Usually I see them standing, not walking, near subway entrances. Or their genius idea of setting up their little police tower after the recent shootings on DeKalb and Myrtle with a couple guys sitting behind tinted windows in the tower, another guy sitting inside an idling police car and another guy sitting inside an idling police truck.

  4. ACHL – The term “all real estate is local” is true indeed. Those six blocks might as well be six miles.

DIBS – discussed lengthening the door with a contractor and was told that the integrity of the door could be suspect at the joint (which I dismissed) and told the stain I wanted wouldn’t take uniformly between the old door and new wood. Good luck.

  5. Correction:

Moreteasir is right! President & Brooklyn (6 BLOCKS AWAY) is well patrolled. The police can even be seen patrolling the alleyways in the area. Why isn’t President and Franklyn being patrolled? There is clearly a problem!
