That 5th Ave Banh Mi Rumor Turned Out to be True
The buzz last month about a banh mi joint opening on 5th Avenue between 5th and 6th streets was on the money. On Friday, a place called Home S opened in the storefront next to Willie’s Dawgs. All banh mi (classic, pork chop, chicken, etc.) cost $6, and bubble teas start at $3.75. There’s no…

Haha Rob – if you wanna have a heart attack go to Despana on Broome – they have a 25 dollar ham sandwich.
Everything is cheaper in Chinatown, rob.
ok I will try this place, but for crissakes can they do a little better on naming the joint? What the hell does “Home S'” even mean? – did they mean “Home’s”? ugh
another new place to note is the pizza place that opened up maybe 2 weeks prior to this shop which is called Prego’s above in the photo? Anyone been?
I miss Nibble Nook that used to be there, I am surprised she didn’t do as well as one one suspect as she sold candies and baked goods and was across from the school
the place i went to is a bit of a hole in the wall in chinatown bahn mi sandwich shop with no frills, so i guess that probably does explain why the sandwiches are a buck less.
i just think 5 dollars is the sweet spot for any kind of sandwich. anything over is just pushing buttons.

4.95 does sound like a deal relative to the slope banh mis. all of which – henrys, hancos and apparently this place – are around $6.
as a slightly obsessive banh mi eater, i’m excited to try this place out and see how it stacks up against the local competition. (i currently give the edge to hanco’s over henry’s btw. although ba chien in sunset park is the real jam.)
I had the chicken sandwitch at the place. They asked me if I wanted it spicy and I said “yes”. Let me tell you…..it was one spicy chicken!!
Got one of those sandwitches for my wife and she grew hair on her chest!
read my post dipster, ALL of the sandwiches were 4.95 at this place.. meat ones included!
