More big news for the Putnam Triangle in Clinton Hill: A lease has just been signed at 14 Putnam for a high-end tea bar. From what we gather, the tea bar will feature an espresso-style brewing machine to create tea lattes, tea-chinos and regular loose-leaf teas; there will also be iced tea and kombucha on offer. On top of that, Blue Bottle coffee will be served alongside pastries, sandwiches and other small bites. The owner expects a relatively quick opening if all goes well. This storefront is just around the corner from the Fulton Grand Bar, a couple of doors down from where the food co-op is slated to be and just outside the proposed Putnam Triangle pedestrian plaza. Amazing! GMAP

  1. m4l–I wasn’t aware that the taco place at greene/classon had opened yet. Will get over there and give a report when I do.

Yeah, there probably are too many places in the coffee/tea/pastry realm at this point. Good thai food would be nice.

  2. blowfish / Wasder, have you tried that taco place on greene & classon yet? how about the wicked hot dog place on myrtle & classon? this blog mentioned these 2 joints and I drove by them both this weekend and am curious hence asking for some feedback if you’ve been in them

  3. I think we officially have too many places to get crumpets in the neighborhood now. Sometimes I view these establishment as fertilizer for more successful ventures to come later on…

  4. blowfish–I hadn’t heard about the other tea lounge. You are right–there is little chance that two identical businesses will survive in such proximity. Money would be on the Putnam one just for the amount of foot traffic it will get.
