A reader wrote in to inform us that she returned from vacation last week to find that, while she was gone, the Chinese restaurant at 1106 8th Avenue at 11th Street in the South Slope transformed into something called Yummy Taco! Does anyone know if this is straight-up Mexican or one of the Mexican-Chinese hybrids that has been increasing in popularity? GMAP

  1. No, Rob, you do not have to be of the ethnicity that first created a cuisine, but it might help. But I swear to g-d the Puerto Rican pizza under me in Williamsburg was the worst ever…until it was taken over by a Trini-Indian–that s#it was like straight tomato paste on matzo with low-fat soy-cheese.

  2. chinese food is pretty gross though. i have neven eaten chinese food before without feeling like complete illness afterwards. tho, ive really only done the take-out chinese talk out joint kind of food, so not sure what traditional chinese food is like, or even if it exists? like even just a plate of steam vegetables make me feel gross after eating it. why is that?

  3. does one have to be italian to make a pizza? does one have to be a martian to make a nitrogren drink? no. tacos are just a bunch of crap on a tortilla. not brain science! yummy tho. yummy taco, just the name tho, sounds soooooo x rated.
