What does it say about Brooklyn demographics when a successful pediatric practice named after a Manhattan neighborhood has more locations in Brooklyn? Such is the case with Tribeca Pediatrics, which opened its new Boerum Hill location last Monday at 250 Dean Street on the heels of opening a Williamsburg location earlier this year. The original office was opened in 1994 on Warren Street in Tribeca by Dr. Michel Cohen. (Full disclosure: The Brownstoner brood currently goes to the Williamsburg office.)

Dr Jennings was cheaper than Dr Thornhill? This can’t be!
Dr. Jennings in Prospect Lefferts was only $5 per visit. Less than a co-pay today. But I guess he must’ve died about 25 years ago. Anybody remember Dr. Jennings?
I would take my children there just because the building is so damned gorgeous.
I grew up going to Dr. Thornhill on St. James or was it Cambridge, and Greene. He was $10 per visit for at least 18 yrs. Loved Dr. Thornhill!
But how do thy feel about veganism? Are the against vaccinations? Anti-circumcision? Pro-Family bed?
the reality is they are successful because they accept new patients even if it means taxing their system. Pytlak and O’Connor stopped accepting new patients and Tribeca got the run-off. Now Dehovitz is saying ‘enough’ and delisting from this puppy mill.
The reality is that it is a successful practice because they have a great staff and a philosophy that is closely aligned with a lot of new parents. The name is secondary, but there is no denying the power of branding.
Completely agree about Michel Cohen and the annoyingness that is Tribeca Pediatrics. Why the need to expand so much? I really like Jana Dehovitz and am thrilled she is splintering off.
Well, considering the breeding rate in NYC, pediatrics is a great racket. Cha-ching!
