A new bar called Woodwork opened last week at 583 Vanderbilt Avenue in Prospect Heights. It’s not just any bar, though, it’s a self-proclaimed soccer bar. We’re more excited about the fact that the bar and table tops were made out of recycled wood from a 150-year-old barn from Cambridge, MA. Anyone check it out yet? GMAP

  1. Yes Jester, but are your buttocks as well-shaped? (actually, his did seem to be quite lovely at one time, ponder, ponder)

CGar, done! We’ll meet for eye candy, lob soccer balls into the crowd with our heads and drink out of mint julep cups without using our hands. It will be frisky.

  2. Went on Friday night with my wife. Chef is called Ross and has a great pedigree. Made the most incredible cheese plate, described every cheese in detail and why he selected it, and then paired it with great wine. Also had his ‘6 Cheese’ Mac & Cheese which was equally great.

It’s a soccer bar with a twist – it’s cool!!! I enjoyed friday evening so much I left the wife at home on Saturday and went in to watch the midday games.

Good drink, good food, fully recommended.

  3. I had to create a profile just to comment on how excited I am about this. (Big soccer nerd, here.) I’ve been traveling to Black Horse in Park Slope when I didn’t feel like making the trek into Manhattan to watch my Arsenal matches, but this even better — it’s within walking distance of my apartment! Hoping they show all the games, it’ll be great for those 8am kickoffs when the G train is out of service. Can’t wait to check it out.

  4. Are soccer bars the latest trend? One just opened up in Bay Ridge about two weeks ago and people love it. Its called Longbow Pub and Pantry. The guy is Welsh and serves up a nice selection of beer. I also suspect it will be packe in June.
