A new bar called Woodwork opened last week at 583 Vanderbilt Avenue in Prospect Heights. It’s not just any bar, though, it’s a self-proclaimed soccer bar. We’re more excited about the fact that the bar and table tops were made out of recycled wood from a 150-year-old barn from Cambridge, MA. Anyone check it out yet? GMAP

  1. Please don’t tell me it’s World Cup time again! I’m sure there are some genuine fans out there, but mostly it is just a time for losers to claim they LOVE soccer (errr.. excuse me, football) so they can think they look cool and cosmopolitan. When it is over, they never even pretend to watch another game.

Sorry to say, but for me, it is so freaking boring that watching it makes me want to poke my eyes out. I’ll be sure to stay as far away from this place as possible.

  2. This is awesome. By the way, the official US soccer supporter’s pub is JAck Demseys at the friendly but admittedly less agreeable location of 33rd street between 6th and 7th in Manhattan. I intend to watch some club football here, can’t wait!

  3. Didn’t see that BSD.

But you know, sometimes people do love a place so much that it inspires them to join and post on yelp.

That’s how I came to it.

I like to give people the benefit of the doubt, but you’re right…I guess 2 of them could be people affiliated with the place. Doesn’t matter, it sounds like an excellent addition to the hood any way you slice it.

  4. Thx Jason, good m&c is even more reason to visit.

11217, of the 3 reviews, 2 of the 5-stars are from people posting their first review ever. That always makes me raise a brow.

Soccer bars mean you hear a cheer once every hour, versus every 10 seconds in a basketball game where you really only need to watch the last 5 minutes.
