StreetLevel: Slope Getting a Piece of the Bay Ridge Pie

I think this place is probably far enough away from Franny’s (on Flatbush) not to hurt it–which is a shame, since I think Franny’s is one of the most overrated new restaurants in the neighborhood recently. It’s not bad, it’s just extremely so-so, and totally not worth the prices (even if it is mostly organic or local), or all the good reviews they seem to get. The pizza is really mediocre.
In the Slope, La Villa’s pizza is really good (or at least was–haven’t been there in a couple years). And since we’re talking on the subject, Caserta Vecchia on Smith St. also does good brick-oven pizzas!
Bar Toto is probably the closest pizza contender, but no brick, of course.
LaVilla shouldnt be worried about this place. Their pizza and dishes are delish. The bread they serve while waiting for your entree is so so good.
psyched about this. i loathe peperencino’s though, ever since the time i got a corn salad there made of canned corn. gross. i’d think la villa – which i adore – would be more worried, but it’s still a long way away.
In other news, the carpet store next Rachel’s Taqueria has moved to a “bigger and better” location in Bay Ridge. Any clue what might be going in there?
Bring it. Peperoncino is 20 blocks from here, so no worries.
Oh, no. Look what Satan is putting around the corner from me. And I’m down two belt notches this year; this will not help me get to minus three.
How much do you bet they’ll raise their prices in this posh “Park Slope” branch?
If not, I’m there.
Bring IT!
