When we spotted a changing of the guard at 723 Fulton Street back in October, one commenter stated rather authoritatively that it was going to be “a Thai restaurant brought to you by an operator of a thai restaurant on Court Street south of Atlantic.” Turns out that was right on the mark: Joya, the popular Court Street spot, will be expanding to the Fort Greene location, based upon an application taped up on the plywood shed. Excited?

There’s no Thai food anywhere in the neighborhood, and Joya is pretty good (if totally inauthentic). I hope this branch of Joya is as cheap as the Court St branch.
11217,
thai in the hood very bad. let say it again, very bad. Joya, even if gottten worst, is probably going to a huge improvement.
where’s Mee Thai?
Another good Thai in queens is Thai Pavillion (30th ave btwn 37th & 38th st). decor is not as fancy looking as Sri but food is very good, good portions, decent prices and I like that there’s a ton of bars, cafes, bakeries near by.
I’m curious abuot this space. I wonder how large it is and if they’ll have a courtyard. It seems small from the outside and based on my experience, Joya/Song are regularly very crowded.
Sorry to be a frownstoner here, but Joya and Song have both gone STEADILY downhill recently. I think both are extremely mediocre on a good day.
Best Thai around is Mee Thai (you wouldn’t know by looking at it, but the food is excellent). One of the best Thai in Brooklyn, in my opinion.
I just had Sripraphai a couple weeks ago, and then Mee Thai last week and I’m not gunna say they’re equal, but they both make Joya and Song look pretty bad.
BUT I’m sure this is awesome for the neighborhood. Some people aren’t too picky about their Thai anyway.
now, how about a good chinese place? the typical take-outs are crap. that one on myrtle and hall is good but would love to have another one
Good for them – Joya nad Song are very well run and great prices with good food.
I wonder how many more locations they need before the frownstoners start bitching that they dont want another chain restaurant!
Joya is excellent. I hope they deliver a little further than what would be considered normal too.
Thai 101 is pretty good, good prices. There are several mediocre Thai places that deliver to my home on Classon. Another Thai place would have been my last choice, but if they are really really good and willing to travel then i’m happy.
I love the new look of this site. Lots of bigger pictures and excellent stories.
