When we spotted a changing of the guard at 723 Fulton Street back in October, one commenter stated rather authoritatively that it was going to be “a Thai restaurant brought to you by an operator of a thai restaurant on Court Street south of Atlantic.” Turns out that was right on the mark: Joya, the popular Court Street spot, will be expanding to the Fort Greene location, based upon an application taped up on the plywood shed. Thanks 11217! Haven’t tried Mee Thai but now I definitely will.
And I totally agree with Bupe — why oh why can’t there be pho in the Slope?? We regularly travel to chinatown for our fix.
That bodega next door to this topical new thai place needs some tlc.
i think that block is primed for a serious upturn. one of the bodegas also “closed for renovation” — usually a good sign i’d say.
That dusty party goods store was cleared out 2 weeks ago.
does anyone else get creeped out by that weird party supply store on fulton @ s. elliot? their inventory is dusty and at least 10 years old. they always have weathered and damaged books and vhs’s on the table outside and never seem to have a customer. ever. how do they stay in business?!
Wasder, I remember brokers were selling me the bill of goods regarding buying in the area – besides AY bs, they were saying this stretch of fulton will look like that stretch in ft greene. that was 2002. Now doesnt look much of a change or improvement vs. then.
