Good news on the Park Slope bar front: The owners of Great Lakes, whose lease ran out recently, have reached an agreement with their landlord to stay in the Fifth Avenue space. According to several sources, the landlord was just testing out the market to see how much interest there was in renting the space (an ad for the location pegged the asking rent at $8,500/month). In any event, the bar’s not going anywhere for awhile. Cheers! GMAP
just walked by oshima (my favorite sushi place in park slope) on 7th between berkeley and lincoln and they are closed till the 29th to renovate their dining room, the sign says.
should be interesting. they have a lovely back garden.
if you haven’t checked out the place, i recommend it highly. nearly as good as blue ribbon sushi for half the price.
the oshima salad is yummy too!!
Miriam does a great brunch. Cocotte did a decent brunch.
Biscuit is lousy. Try BarBQ on 6th Avenue at 20th and get the brisket.
Peppinos on 5th at 11th has great pizza.
Fatoosh gets a thumbs up too.
I miss Mekong. Best calimari ever.
There’s a new-ish diner on 5th and Bergen called Maria’s.
Super cute, if you haven’t already tried it.
People running it are nice, it’s cheap and a warm, friendly place.
Loved it.
someone needs to open a decent bbq joint. i agree, biscuit BLEW IT. maybe the “brick oven” place on 3rd ave. that’s under construction won’t suck.
I agree with 4:55
Long live the Lakes, and long live dumps in general! I’ll take GL or J5A any day over most of the alternatives in the slope…
I agree….Miriam is TERRIFIC for brunch. I go often.
Never had dinner there.
Miriam is pretty great for brunch, though. Give it a try. Not overpriced.
Glad they re-upped…it’s where the wife & I met back in ’99, you know…
