Work was humming along yesterday on two future adjoining Cortelyou Road spots, a Middle Eastern market and a wine bar. According to Ditmas Park Blog, the wine bar will be called Castello Plan. Both businesses are being opened by an owner of Mimi’s Hummus, says the Voice. GMAP

  1. Pomme de Terre has an even awesomer hamburger than the Farm, IMHO.

We get chinese at the place that is across from Met food, on the corner opposite Duane Reade. I don’t know the name of it — is that the New Hong Kong House? It’s not bad.

  2. I sometimes wish I had remained anonymous. I used to only have two drinks at a gathering and then I’d split. That went on for a long while. But then at Rope, we became PLUSAs. And I realized I was one:). And it was good.

  3. The pig face at Purple Yam looks like something I’ll be checking out. Also the oxtail. I have a hard time thinking of humus, etc. as anything other than street vender food that should cost about $3. But what do I know?

Pomme de Terre seems worth it, among the area’s fancier restaurants.

  4. Tybur6, I talked my way into Purple Yam’s “soft opening” which was kind of a friends and family event though they were charging for many items. I overheard that the prices would be higher than they were that night ($6 for a tapas/app size plate). I’m guessing it won’t be too attractively priced, but nice to have more options. And I love all asian food (except when accompanied by bullet proof glass) so happy about that. The menu seemed to have a lot of Korean items, but made less spicy. I’d prefer more traditional Korean, if anyone is listening.

Had a club sandwich at Picket Fence in the garden once which was decent but I have ruled out going there for dinner. Price/quality ratio not good.
