StreetLevel: Abilene Folks Opening a Bar on 3rd Avenue
A bar is slated to open next spring in a former karate school space on 3rd Avenue between 13th an 14th streets. The biz is a spin-off of Abilene, the Carroll Gardens bar on Court Street, according to Ideal Properties Group, which brokered the deal. GMAP
Rob – what do you like about 4th? Nothing buy heavy/loud car traffic, very low foot traffic,a large taxi place, Mcdonalds, and ugly new construction.
I’m not gunna lie….I enjoy 5th. Not everything of course, but a walk from 5th and Flatbush to 5th and 20th Streets really gives you a nice sense of Brooklyn through the years. It’s like a walk back in time the farther south you go.
And some of my favorite stores are in the north part of 5th.
is there a 2nd and 1st avenue btw?

and 5th avenue just makes me wretch. i avoid it at all costs.

yeah i never really went to third avanue until last week. i like it. but i like the aesthetics in general of 4th avenue much better. it has a very city-in-jersey like boulevard feel to it.

3rd is definitely better than 4th I think.
I love wandering around down there.
Yeah – Draft Barn is close to here, which is fantastic.
3rd Ave is great – has a really cool vibe. Dare I say better than 4th Ave?
ha! totally spot on snark “dumboed into douchedom” hahaha

As more and more of the Williamsburg crowd seem to be moving south to Prospect Heights, Crown Heights, Boreum Hill, etc, this area of Gowanus is going to attract a lot more of the music venue, bars, gallery type things…
🙁
