A bar is slated to open next spring in a former karate school space on 3rd Avenue between 13th an 14th streets. The biz is a spin-off of Abilene, the Carroll Gardens bar on Court Street, according to Ideal Properties Group, which brokered the deal. GMAP

  1. I worry about the tire shop on Fulton, what with the beer garden and bookstore moving in. Yes, I am serious.

Fourth Ave will never get all that fancy because it’s a highway. 3rd and 2nd, such as they are, if the massive brownfield issues ever get resolved, may get more of those cute out-of-the-way places that Brooklyn is known and loved for… but, even so, not that much.

  2. I like some of the new places on 3rd Ave, but I hope gentrification doesn’t put the Mexico Tire Shop out of business. Those guys are the best.

  3. i wonder how being a superfund site would impact the development of gowanus…wasn’t there a discussion on here about that recently..?

  4. I love free stoop clothes too, Rob.

But my new favorite place is called ODD TWIN on Lincoln and 5th. They have some really great mens vintage clothes for pretty cheap.
