StreetLevel: Abilene Folks Opening a Bar on 3rd Avenue
A bar is slated to open next spring in a former karate school space on 3rd Avenue between 13th an 14th streets. The biz is a spin-off of Abilene, the Carroll Gardens bar on Court Street, according to Ideal Properties Group, which brokered the deal. GMAP
Got cornice?
I worry about the tire shop on Fulton, what with the beer garden and bookstore moving in. Yes, I am serious.
Fourth Ave will never get all that fancy because it’s a highway. 3rd and 2nd, such as they are, if the massive brownfield issues ever get resolved, may get more of those cute out-of-the-way places that Brooklyn is known and loved for… but, even so, not that much.
there are tire shops on 4th ave still so im sure the ones on 3rd are fine.
I like some of the new places on 3rd Ave, but I hope gentrification doesn’t put the Mexico Tire Shop out of business. Those guys are the best.
i wonder how being a superfund site would impact the development of gowanus…wasn’t there a discussion on here about that recently..?
cool 11217 – will have to check those out.
oooh cool 11217 thanks ill check that out.

I love free stoop clothes too, Rob.
But my new favorite place is called ODD TWIN on Lincoln and 5th. They have some really great mens vintage clothes for pretty cheap.
There’s also this new Brooklyn Crossroads Supper Club place that seems to be trying to get off the ground. Brownstoner highlighted it a while back…
