Just to add to the confusion, Blue Marble is now a “chain!” They opened up their 2nd location on Underhill Ave in Prospect Heights. Pretty awesome!
4:46 – Louie G’s Hummer more than makes up for the “more envionmentally sound” comment…
$3? You can get a small ice at Louie G’s for $1.50.
4:44 – someone from Texas bought the Duane Reade franchise, btw.
Well to weigh in here
– spending $3 on colored ice is far more environmentally sound than $6 on organic ice cream.
-I personally like Ice better – Sno Cone=greatest invention of man
– and ice is healthier.
2 scoops is more than plenty for me.
I’m not clueless, I’ve been to both Blue Marble and Uncle L’s and I will not be back to the latter. It sucked.
Blue Marble is excellent ice cream. It takes a refined pallette to know good quality from bad. You are from West Virginia, maybe?
4:17 — I think when a locally owned store expands to over 5 branches, it’s gone beyond a local store to be a local chain. NTTIAWT — I love Duane Reade, and that’s the local chain to end all local chains. (The real question is when does a local chain become regional?) and anyway, Gabby was not busting on Louie G, just the other commenters.
FWIW, I don’t get Louie G. The ices are eh at best. Much better ices are across the way at the Court Pastry Shop (through the side window). (I have never had theice cream, but after two disappointing ices, I never intend to go out of my way to try it).
Blue Marble is just not comprable. One, it’s ice cream, not water ice. Two, it’s organic, so the prices are going to be higher than what you would get elsewhere. Three, many flavors at BM simply are very tasty, but not every flavor is for everyone — I don’t get the non-sweet tasting culture flavor, but a lot of people seem to enjoy it.
The real comparison for Louie G would be Baskin Robbins — a national chain with many locations in the same neighborhoods as Louie G.
4:37 u are clueless… 2 scoops is literally about 5 spoonfulls I have never seen anything like that…
Id rather go with an ice not as many calories either FATTY….
How is spending $3 on colored ice different than $6 on homemade, all-natural, organic icecream.
I’d say the markup on the ice is a wee bit more…
Dumb*ss.
