Sex and the Brooklyn

It makes you wonder: Now that much of Manhattan has turned into a theme park version of “Sex and the City,” would Carrie Bradshaw and the gang still live on the island? Probably not, since Manhattan is as played out as a pair of last season’s Manolos. “It’s expensive, and it’s not what it used to be,” Sarah Jessica Parker tells the Daily News. “That’s why the outer boroughs are so desirable. The outer boroughs are pretty sexy. It’s just a matter of time before they have their own shows.” According to the article, “If ‘Sex’ were starting over today, Carrie would rock out Carroll Gardens. BFF Miranda started out in Park Slope, but later, she’s bound to settle down with Steve, Brady and a brand new car in spacious Red Hook,” while Samantha would roost in Long Island City and Charlotte would play house in Riverdale. The article has quotes from Brooklyn residents who say stuff like, “Carroll Gardens or Williamsburg have a little bit of the hip edge that Carrie has, so she’d be able to get away with her funky outfits and no one would think twice about it.” Hip, edgy, less expensive than Manhattan: You heard it here first, folks. Also, the apocalypse is nigh.

Isn’t this the chat room? Sorry, I must have taken a wrong turn at the Renovations section.
Dave, the HORROR!! Please be very careful. They’ll have you speaking Korean (a northern dialect, no doubt) and eating durian fruit before you know it (insert 11:33 insult attempt here).
You don’t have to imagine what it would be like to have air-headed bimbos like Carrie, Samantha, etc. tottering down the street in their stiletto heels. I’ve been in Park Slope, Carrol Gardens, etc. on a Saturday night and they’re already there.
Hi. 10:43 here. 10:56 asked about S&TC scouting and stuff. Not sure how they chose my house, although there was a half naked carpenter hanging out of my parlor windows one day installing new sashes. Later in the day he said there were two women watching him all afternoon from across the street. I guess the shirtless/carpenter pants attire got them thinking. They scouted here a week or two later.
They filmed for the series – two different shoots in 03/04 – and a third time for the movie last fall. The people from the TV show were extremely nice. The movie people were ok too, but less organized.
In this last round, they used some of my furniture, walked off with a tibetan fur hat of mine, a dust ruffle, some good curtain rods, the remote control and all of my jade necklaces but left the place in pretty good shape otherwise. I would like my hat and necklaces back though.
Hilarious! I just had a good laugh imagining the S&C gals moving to my decidedly unhip neighborhood of Parkville/Midwood. Then again, not all parts of Manhattan attract a lot of S&C wannabes.. Are there that many Carrie Bradshaw-lookalikes in East Harlem or Washingon Heights these days?
Why do you have such a problem with us? 11:33? We are talking about the subject at hand (whatever that is).
You are like the kid in school who got picked last in dodge ball and then sat in the corner and cried about it for the rest of the day.
If you want to join in, do it and stop complaining.
Personally I think bstoner should create a chat room for people like you who not only don’t talk about the topic at hand, but instead make derogatory comments about the other posters.
Personally I think the three of us add more hits to this blog (what bstoner cares about) than you do.
Here we go agian another 3 Spoogers rerun.
Brownstoner please create a chat room for these people.
Yes, and some of them were born out there, or even worse, in Asia!!!!
Dave, you have west coast friends? If it wasn’t for your previous post asserting your manliness, I would be on the phone to the House Committee on Un-American Activities as we speak!
“Is there even a store in Brooklyn that sells $500 pairs of shoes?”
Soula on Smith Street had some $585 boots last fall that caught my eye… until I saw the price tag.
