Sex and the Brooklyn
It makes you wonder: Now that much of Manhattan has turned into a theme park version of “Sex and the City,” would Carrie Bradshaw and the gang still live on the island? Probably not, since Manhattan is as played out as a pair of last season’s Manolos. “It’s expensive, and it’s not what it used…

It makes you wonder: Now that much of Manhattan has turned into a theme park version of “Sex and the City,” would Carrie Bradshaw and the gang still live on the island? Probably not, since Manhattan is as played out as a pair of last season’s Manolos. “It’s expensive, and it’s not what it used to be,” Sarah Jessica Parker tells the Daily News. “That’s why the outer boroughs are so desirable. The outer boroughs are pretty sexy. It’s just a matter of time before they have their own shows.” According to the article, “If ‘Sex’ were starting over today, Carrie would rock out Carroll Gardens. BFF Miranda started out in Park Slope, but later, she’s bound to settle down with Steve, Brady and a brand new car in spacious Red Hook,” while Samantha would roost in Long Island City and Charlotte would play house in Riverdale. The article has quotes from Brooklyn residents who say stuff like, “Carroll Gardens or Williamsburg have a little bit of the hip edge that Carrie has, so she’d be able to get away with her funky outfits and no one would think twice about it.” Hip, edgy, less expensive than Manhattan: You heard it here first, folks. Also, the apocalypse is nigh.

stay focused Biff. The seriousness of this matter deserves your utmost sincerity as well
And The Patty Duke Show set in Brooklyn Heights. Oops, deepest apologies; even though we’re discussing TV shows and Brooklyn, I’m sure I was somehow on a tangent.
11:02….this whole post is about fiction…don’t you get it
And celeb watching is like train spotting….for losers
WHO CARES?????
These are fictional characters whose lives are supposed to mirror the lives of a teeny, tiny fraction of a percentage of single white women of a certain age and income group in Manhattan. Who cares who they are sleeping with, what they are wearing, or where they live?
This is just escapist fiction. Makes me miss the good old days of Brooklyn celeb watches. Also a shallow waste of time and energy, but at least those celebs are real people.
Yeah and the Cosby show was certainly a reality show ahead of its time!!!!!!!!
Yeah…I don’t want to see this thread deteriorate into a discussion about real estate prices, the economy, architectural renovation, blah, blah, blah
I’m still wondering about 10:45 writing about the Italians in Carroll Gardens.
dave, how could you forget The Honeymooners? Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, baby!
All in the Family I believe was Queens. The Cosby show was supposedly based in BKLYN.
Hey 10:43 — Miranda lived in your house??!!! Really??! Forgive me for being such a loser, but I think that’s really cool. Would you tell us about it — how did they scout you and how long did they shoot there and so on (I can’t help it, I loved the show).
