Sex and the Brooklyn
It makes you wonder: Now that much of Manhattan has turned into a theme park version of “Sex and the City,” would Carrie Bradshaw and the gang still live on the island? Probably not, since Manhattan is as played out as a pair of last season’s Manolos. “It’s expensive, and it’s not what it used…

It makes you wonder: Now that much of Manhattan has turned into a theme park version of “Sex and the City,” would Carrie Bradshaw and the gang still live on the island? Probably not, since Manhattan is as played out as a pair of last season’s Manolos. “It’s expensive, and it’s not what it used to be,” Sarah Jessica Parker tells the Daily News. “That’s why the outer boroughs are so desirable. The outer boroughs are pretty sexy. It’s just a matter of time before they have their own shows.” According to the article, “If ‘Sex’ were starting over today, Carrie would rock out Carroll Gardens. BFF Miranda started out in Park Slope, but later, she’s bound to settle down with Steve, Brady and a brand new car in spacious Red Hook,” while Samantha would roost in Long Island City and Charlotte would play house in Riverdale. The article has quotes from Brooklyn residents who say stuff like, “Carroll Gardens or Williamsburg have a little bit of the hip edge that Carrie has, so she’d be able to get away with her funky outfits and no one would think twice about it.” Hip, edgy, less expensive than Manhattan: You heard it here first, folks. Also, the apocalypse is nigh.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. If you don’t like what is being said, skip it and move to the next.
Some of you are some of the most narrow minded people on the planet, it would seem. If you find this thread so offensive, why on God’s green earth would you find it necessary to comment about how stupid it is?
It makes ZERO sense.
Everyone likes to talk about different things. Is it just your nature to automatically judge anyone different from you??
Go lead a discussion about DOB if that is so important to you.
Hate to feed into the stereotype but it seems the non gays are the real pussies around here.
(52nd post for those playing at home)
I’m sorry slopefarm. What should we be talking about under this story? Why don’t you lead the discussion?
Work 10:43! I remember that well. I lived right around the corner from your house on Clinton Ave. I was very excited to see Miranda ‘in the nabe’ (on the show of course). Fort Greene/Clinton Hill has been the backdrop for many films for years now. NOTE: Not just Spike Lee movies as some would like to think. It’s the greatest most diverse neighborhood I have ever experienced.
Kudos!
I’ve met Sarah Jessica Parker on three separate occassions. She is a really lovely woman and NOTHING like her character.
I also find her sexy in that quirky kinda way. And also in that I’m gay and if I weren’t, I’d be into her sortof way.
She’s a fine woman.
Also used to see Cynthia Nixon weekly when I lived on the Upper West Side. She lived in the 90s before I believe she moved to Brooklyn with her girlfriend.
WHAT? If that’s true, I’m immediately cancelling my trip to the tiny village in Alaska. It sounded like so much fun!!
These women are young?
Christ on a cracker, I just read the Times article. There are women who seriously think Sex and the City is a realistic model for how to live their lives in NYC? I loved the show Northern Exposure, but I’m pretty sure if I went to live in a tiny village in Alaska, I wouldn’t find a bunch of leftist, free-thinking philosophers and wanna be filmmakers to pal around with. It was a TV SHOW for f’s sake!
Hmm,
44 posts and counting on where fictional characters might live in Brooklyn if they were still alive as fictional characters today, and two comments on a post concerning DOB. Glad the commentariat on this site hasn’t lost focus.
I can’t believe noone has brought up the most outrageous part of the original post! Charlotte in Riverdale???? Charlotte is 100% in Brooklyn Heights – the Upper East Side of the outer boroughs…
