The upper class in most places always left the child rearing to someone else. This is not a 21st century phenomenon. Don’t you watch Masterpiece Theater?
I know a couple who did this, but the woman has health issues that make it dangerous for her to be pregnant.
The entire outsourcing of child rearing is not new for the upper class, so I guess that’s just an extension of that. Philosophically, it’s an interesting choice; they’ve decided to extend their genes, but have little interest in their offspring, or maybe think others can do a better job, or that the rest of their lives is more fulfilling. It makes me wonder how they were reared.
It’s creepy- having children and raising them by proxy. If they don’t want the hassle of being pregnant, and they don’t want the hassle of raising the kid, what do they want? A trophy child? It would be different if the wife couldn’t have a child herself, but they just seem to want to be parents without the involvement. Creepy.
and yeah why central america? why not just pick out some random chick from the hood instead? is it a legal issue? does it cost more to rent an american womb than a central american womb?
the lower class usually leaves the child-rearing to other people as well. they just dont pay for it.

True, rf. This all might seem more normal if they were actually upper class. But they’re like me, so I compare their choices to my own.
If they aren’t rich, it’s going to be very difficult for them to pay someone to raise the child.

raising a child you adopted is much more complicated than raising a dog or cat you’ve adopted.

pregnancy is a long time and painful delivery but parenthood is more than that. so cant be too judgemental on them choosing this course of action
