  1. I know a couple who did this, but the woman has health issues that make it dangerous for her to be pregnant.
    The entire outsourcing of child rearing is not new for the upper class, so I guess that’s just an extension of that. Philosophically, it’s an interesting choice; they’ve decided to extend their genes, but have little interest in their offspring, or maybe think others can do a better job, or that the rest of their lives is more fulfilling. It makes me wonder how they were reared.

  2. It’s creepy- having children and raising them by proxy. If they don’t want the hassle of being pregnant, and they don’t want the hassle of raising the kid, what do they want? A trophy child? It would be different if the wife couldn’t have a child herself, but they just seem to want to be parents without the involvement. Creepy.

  3. and yeah why central america? why not just pick out some random chick from the hood instead? is it a legal issue? does it cost more to rent an american womb than a central american womb?
