cmu, I have a SIL who makes it out of a box and another SIL who makes it from scratch. Completely different taste. I prefer from scratch. So much better delish.
I learned a few other Indian dishes that are easy…..and using the boxes.
“Ringo, not lechacal’s kids. They stay home and play with handmade toys made of cotton and wood.”
I also have a no battery toys rule. None of my kids’ toys take batteries. Exceptions have been made for (1) a camera and (2) a little rainbow thing they turn on as a night-light when they go to bed.
Some of my kids’ toys used to take batteries but I disabled the battery parts. Other toys take batteries and have been hidden at the top of the secret closet.
oh yeah – if anyone is looking for a fun Brooklyn-based weekend activity I highly recommend the pizza making classes at The Brooklyn Kitchen. Did it this weekend and it was taught by two guys from Roberta’s who were absolutely hilarious (and pretty good teachers)

On Seinfeld all the people of color on the show were caricatures.
EVERYONE on that show was a caricature tho. that was the point of the show, no? so if any black people were on it, of course they would be a caricature too.
MM and I always joke around that it’s the Black guy who dies first in every movie- usually saving some white guy. And it’s actually pretty true. At least on those godawful SYFY Saturday movies.
rob>personally i find forced tokens on tv shows rather lame anyway
Agreed. Always the judge, third in command, sidekick or cameo. BUt it’s still better than the 50’s and before.
I have often wondered why British (non-period) shows that I watch (mostly PBS) seem to be better at representing non-whites, I can’t believe that Britain is better at race relations. But maybe it’s because it’s more of a class thing there, if you’re black and speak public-school, you’re accepted. Maybe not.

Non-white people are probably over-represented in the UK on TV relative to their % of the population. (I don’t have a problem with that, btw).
