I loved the first season of Survivor. First (and only) reality show I watched. Nobody was watching it until the 2nd or 3rd to last episode, so there was no hype. Everything was still new, so it wasn’t formulaic. Then it caught on, and the reality craze followed, and that was it for me.
I meant to post earlier, dona, that I won’t post in the bike threads. It’s enough already! Every once in a while, fine. But every day there seems to be another bike thread.
There’s a great deal of coarseness in pop culture today.
Television is only the tip of the iceberg.
works of true quality seem to be rare these days,
it may be the reason for a return in some circles to
“old fashioned” things.
For instance, suddenly a “quality” Butcher shop is the in thing, or a “quality” bar tender that can mix a few spirits together.
–bikes don’t follow the rules. Self indulgent whiny entitled moonfaces
–Cars don’t follow the rules. They are bigger than us and can KILL people.
–Bikes can kill people. And knock down pedestrians
–you are a dope.
–Marty M. doesn’t like the bike lanes because he is old and fat.
–You are a moron.
–You are stupid.
–NO YOU are stupid.
–I am not going to post on bike lanes. (posts 5 paragraphs)
–What am I doing here?

Reality TV is just as dumb as its audience.
Exactly. As is Jerry Springer or Oprah. Now Merv Griffin was truly a class act (and a homo).
