I have to agree, benson. I refuse to watch shows like Survivor, where a bunch of people pretend they are really facing serious, life threatening crises under the watchful eye of a rich production company. TV reality shows are horribly mean-spirited.
One of my colleagues recently made an observation about how the changes in reality TV shows reflect our loss of social cohesion.
He is the same age as I am (53) and we were both fondly remembering the show “Candid Camera”. It was the forerunner of today’s reality-TV show in which ordinary folks were filmed with hidden cameras as they faced a ridiculous or unexpected situation. The show made you laugh because you would recognize their reactions as exactly what you would do in the situation.
On the other hand, many of today’s offerings are variants of a freak show, in which we are supposed to be amused at watching lesser forms of life.
ET…I yell at them too when it’s pretty clear what the answer is and they choose to continue to buy vowels or pick a consonant that there’s only one of when it’s clear there are two of another consonant.

State of the Union Address Tonight!!!!!!
“Lucky for me tonight my Mexican bf gets to my place just before 8:00.”

so while the President is trying to screw us over,

Letting another illegal Mexican in the back door.
